Where has all my energy gone?

I think the first and foremost thing they should tell you about when you become pregnant is that you can kiss any energy you once had goodbye! I don't know if it is a mix of not drinking caffeine anymore and trying to eat healthier (which means less candybars in the breakroom for me), but I am tired ALL of the time. I can barely keep my eyes open at work and I feel like I spend my day with my mouth open from all of the yawning I do. And it's not just me that notices it. About 3 times a day I'll have a coworker stop by and ask if I'm ok because I look so sleepy.
I have every intention of going to they gym to stay in shape but by the time I get home all I want to do is change into my pj's and watch TV in bed. Which then leads to me falling asleep within 5 minutes. I'm even tired right after I get up in the morning, and it's not because I went to bed late the night before because my bed time has been averaging about 9p. A couple weeks ago I probably would have smacked myself on the head and screamed Carpe Diem! But now the only thing I want to seize is more zzz's.
I guess my enjoyment right now is sleeping, and lots of it! I almost wish I could do what they do on the cartoon "Tom and Jerry" and paint realistic looking eyeballs on my eyelids so I can just take a nap when I want and no one would know any different. I went down to the little convenience store in my building at work to look for some Acetaminophen (which by the way is the only form of pain reliever you can take while pregnant, yet another thing to add to my growing list of "cannot have while pregnant") and there was a row of 5 Hour Energy's that looked so tantalizing that I started to drool. To only have 5 Hours of Energy right now!
I had to walk out of the store before I succumbed to the temptation and drank the whole row of those energy shots.
I keep reading articles that say this will pass. What do I have to say to that? Bring it on, and pass already! Yawn!

What is going on??

I sit here this morning staring at an empty coffee cup, feeling a little groggy. Wondering how am I going to get through the next 9 months?? This is the same feeling I had last night as I opened the refridgerator to find my favorite bottle of wine staring back at me, but again my wine glass was empty. Why you may ask? I found out a couple of days ago that I am pregnant. I can't explain the joy, excitedness and nervousness I felt in a matter of one minute for the test to show that big blue positive sign. My husband and I have been married 3 years and we decided it was time to start a family. I know I shouldn't have been that shocked when I saw that test stick in my hand saying "YES YOU ARE PREGNANT!!" but I was! I thought I had jinxed myself after years of saying I didn't know if I wanted kids. After years of enjoying my favorite wines and partaking in the bad habit of smoking with each glass of wine. Plus, I've been hearing stories all around me of couples trying to conceive but can't or are still trying after a year. I thought for sure that would be my story, but by the grace of God it wasn't. My husband was beyond happy and that first night I found out, we both went through the rest of night in a twlight like daze calling each other momma and daddy (hey, I never said we weren't cheesy.) I must say 4 days later as I sit here and write this it still doesn't feel real. I don't feel pregnant, other than the occasional cramping (which I go to the bathroom every time to see if I started my period or something) and my breast being extremely sensative. I do know that it was really hard last night, a Friday night I might add, to not slip into my usual routine of pouring a glass of wine and sitting on the front porch to let the stress of the week melt away while enjoying my first puffs on a cigerette. Instead I busied myself with cleaning the house, grocery shopping, and mowing the front lawn. What's that saying about idle hands?? Well, that's how I felt, and I was not about to let mine go idle. Another thing that has been hard getting used to so far, is the no caffiene. I am a coffee junkie in the morning and I swear my coffee pot is just as sad as I am about not being able to use it. The all you can drink cokes in my work fridge have never looked so tempting before, but I keep walking right over to the water dispenser. It's amazing all the things you have to cut out of your life and diet. And I'm not saying that is a bad thing, b/c the reason behind it is amazing. I'm just saying it's hard to go in a second cold turkey on it all. And the more I read and find out the more I find out I can't do or eat certain things. For example, lunch meat. No more lunch meat for me, why? I have no idea but I guess moms-to-be are supposed to stay away. And cleaning my cat's litter box, is now a thing of the past. Which for once, I won't complain b/c it was never a chore I liked doing anyway. So, as the days and months go by I'm sure I'll find out more do's and dont's that I'll shake my head at. But the great thing about it is I have this little bitty love child that is growing inside of me, that will be part me and part my husband that I can't wait to meet, and all the things in the world that I have to stay away from will be worth it when I look into his or hers eye's for the first time. Until, then I'm going to enjoy each week of changes and embrace them with all my might. As Bob Dylan once said, "Times are a changing".
